Now Facebook wants you to stop using LinkedIn with its new Job Opening feature. Now business pages can post and promote job listings. These job postings will be shown to all followers in their news feed.

Techcrunch spotted a new dedicated job tab on the Facebook page and now Facebook has confirmed that this feature is still in testing. So, most of the pages have not yet received and we cannot say when Facebook will finally push this feature to all Features.

Job postings will also offer “Apply Now” button. Clicking on this will open the standard job application with pre-populated information from users’ public profile. It allows users to quickly submit the job application.

Facebook pages will receive the applications in the form on Facebook Messages. Now this is the only wrong thing because it will mix job applications and other messages. There could be a better way to manage jobs or forward job applications to an email address.

Facebook pages can promote their job postings to reach to more people.

This is not the first attempt to compete with LinkedIn. It already testing profile tags to add skills in your profile. This feature was similar to LinkedIn’s skill endorsements feature. Even on Facebook, users can get recommendations in the form of Like. Now Facebook can also open the profile tag and give more options

Most of the people are on Facebook and with these new features, Facebook can attract recruiters as well. Businesses can post job ads and target more relevant people to reach to right candidates.

LinkedIn has just 467 million active users as compared to Facebook which has 1.79 billion active users. Most of the LinkedIn users do not engage and visits the website only if they are seriously looking for the job. So, they usually miss many jobs they might take interest.

On Facebook, businesses can reach to more potential candidates as all are active here. So, Facebook has much more advantages over LinkedIn. People who usually forget to open LinkedIn profile for months can actively look for jobs on Facebook.

Recently, Microsoft spent $26.2 billion cash to acquire LinkedIn. Facebook’s recent testing feature will surely give Microsoft a reason to worry.
