Facebook’s Marketplace lets you buy and sell items with nearby users

Facebook has announced a new marketplace to help you buy and sell stuff on Facebook.

Facebook claims that more than 450 million people visit buy and sell groups each month and use this platform for selling goods online to people around their locations. So, this marketplace will be an easier way to discover buy and sell items with people in your community.

This marketplace has been launched in the US, UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Over the next few days, the Facebook app will replace the messenger icon with a marketplace icon on Facebook’s mobile app. Tapping it takes you to the marketplace home page where you will items you will be interested. Facebook decides these items based on your interests. It depends on your viewing, buying or selling activity, and more factors.

To sell the item, just upload the photo, add the name, description, and price. Buyers can message the seller and place an offer to buy the product.

When you find something you wish to buy, tap on the image to see more details from the seller. This detail page includes a product description, name, profile photo of the seller and their location. You can also save the item to check it later if you have no time to check it now but have the interest to buy it.

it is worth to note that Facebook will not take responsibility if you fall into a trouble with buyer or seller or if someone decides to assault you and steal your item at the designated meeting place.

In India, this marketplace will surely hurt OLX or Quikr like services.
