Facebook Messenger will get data saver option soon

Messenger

Data saver is now an important feature of mobile apps to reduce the data consumption while using cellular data. Google and Opera are the two companies that are focusing on data saver options to reduce the phone bill of their users. While Opera is just limited to the browser, Google is offering this option in most of its apps. Facebook already tried this with its main app. Now, Facebook is also testing the same on Messenger

Facebook is testing a data saver option for Messenger which will reduce the amount of data the app consumers. It will be saving your data by changing how the app downloads any media content the user receives.

This option can be seen in the settings area. As the feature is in testing, this option is only available for selected users only. It reduces the amount of data by enabling click-to-download on photos or videos in place of auto-download while using cellular data. The ordinary text messages are unaffected by this.

There will also be an option to check how much data has been saved.

This option is available in the latest version of Messenger 93.0.0.9.69. It is available at APK Mirror and soon it will also be available at Play Store.
