Here is why Samsung decided to recall all sold Galaxy Note 7 devices and replace it with new units

Last month Samsung unveiled the much awaited Galaxy Note 7 and today this Korean tech giant has issued a recall for millions of Galaxy Note 7 devices. We already reported that news earlier today. But you also should know why Samsung has decided to recall all the sold devices even if Samsung will end up spending lot more money on this whole process

Samsung stated that they have found a battery cell issue which caused the device to ‘explode’ during or after charging.  The company also said they would halt sales of the device and replace the devices which are already sold. There have been various cases in past reporting the battery and heating issues of the devices. In few cases, the phone also caught fire.

Samsung confirmed that 35 cases were reported worldwide. However, Over 2.5 million Note 7 devices sold may have  been affected by this issue. Samsung says that probability of having a faulty device is less, but this number will be larger if the phone sales go to large numbers. The firm noted that this would cost them a heartache and also said it would take about two weeks to prepare the recall.

A few days back, a YouTube user, Ariel Gonzalez uploaded a video showing his damaged Note 7 device. His device caught fire after putting it on the charge, he also states that he was using the official Samsung charger. NO one can understand the feel of losing a newly bought phone which is also one of the costliest phones in the market.

This problem comes out at the worst time possible as Galaxy Note 7’s rival iPhone 7 is all set for a big launch. Within a week, iPhone 7 will be in the market. If Samsung Note 7 sees more such incidents, Samsung will surely lose sales to Apple and people will start moving to buy iPhone 7.

As soon as the reports of the Battery flaw came out, Samsung’s shares fell but managed to close 0.6% higher.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was very well received and had amazing features. While Samsung does the recall, all we can do is hope this doesn’t affect them as badly as it looks. If you own a Samsung Galaxy Note 7, you will surely get a replacement from company to avoid any issue in near future.
