Finally, Google has opened Google Play Music Store for Indian users. Users can purchase songs or music albums and enjoy on their phones.
There is no official announcement for this availability, but users can now access the store with India specific content from their mobile app or web. Content has been categorized to make it easier to find your favorite album or song.
Users can purchase any album or song by paying through credit card or debit card.
It does not yet offer radio, podcasts, family plans and genre-based charts. We can expect the roll out soon before Diwali.
With this service, Google wants to take on Apple’s iTunes and Airtel’s Wynk music store. There are many other players also offer similar service. Saregama is even offering song purchasing for very low cost i.e. Rs. 2 per song.
There were rumours for the official launch of Music Store in India in July, but nothing happened. Now, Google has silently launched it in India. We are surprised because Google held a press event yesterday where it launched few India-specific services. But, it didn’t talk about this.
