LeEco Le 2 vs Redmi note 3

Flipkart will be holding the first flash sale of LeEco Le 2 on June 28. But Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is already available in Indian marker. While we have a dedicated comparison segment where you can check LeEco Le 2 vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, we decided to present the comparison in the better way. It is because our comparison portal compares phones based on their specs but LeEco Le 2 smartphone is not about the specs only. This phone has something no company is offering. I am talking about its ecosystems which you can access with LeEco membership. In this article, I will be comparing LeEco Le 2 with Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 in detail.

Design

Le 2 is better in terms of design than Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. Even if both phones come with the metal unibody design, edges of Le 2 makes it much premium in looks. Redmi Note 3 has curved edges while Le 2 has sharp chamfered edges which looks more beautiful.

It can also be the person’s choice but for me, LeEco 2 is better in terms of design.

Display

Both LeEco Le 2 come with 5.5-inch IPS LCD full HD display. While LeEco Le 2 comes with Gorilla Glass 3 protection, Redmi Note 3 has a king of Scratch-resistant glass protection which company didn’t confirm. So, LeEco Le 2 already has Gorilla Glass as an advantage. In terms of viewing experience, both phones offers similar kind of experience in indoor and outdoor.

Performance

LeEco Le 2 is powered by octa-core Snapdragon 652 with Adreno 510 while Redmi Note 3 comes with hexa-core Snapdragon 650 with Adreno 510. Both SD 652 and 652 are capable of offering the best experience in gaming and multimedia. But SD 652 is more capable and powerful. It is because of two extra cores of ARM. While performance also depends on software optimization, both MIUI and EUI offers good performance and lag free experience.

Benchmarking scores are almost similar but Le 2 scores better. Although the difference is not much, it still matters.

So, LeEco Le 2 takes the lead with very small margin.

Software

Both phones come with their own special UI. Redmi Note 3 is packed with MIUI 7 while Le 2 is packed with EUI. Comparison of UI in detail will be something very long thing. In short, I want to make it clear that both UI has their own special set of features. Both offer customization, themes, wallpapers, icons, pre-install utility features.

But LeEco Le 2 takes the lead with its membership option in which it offers a unique apps with bundled content. Users will get unlimited movies, music, live channels, live streaming of concerts and 5 TB of cloud space. Can you imagine? 5TB of cloud space. All you need to have a good internet connection to use these things without interruption.

While users will have to pay for this content, membership is free for one year with the purchase of this phone. And after 1 year, users will get access to membership with Rs. 490 per month. I do not think the company is charging high for what it is offering. Most of the users will surely pay this price for the content.

Storage

LeEco Le 2 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 both phones come with 32 GB internal storage. Le 2 does not allow you to expand storage while Redmi Note 3 offers hybrid slot and hence you can expand storage if you are agreeing to use only 1 sim on the phone. While most of us use two numbers, having no microSD slot or having Hybrid slot is same. It makes the difference for those who use 1 number.

Camera

The camera is one of the most important thing people look for on their phones. Both phones come with 16-megapixels camera sensor with similar features including Face Detection, Touch to focus, Exposure compensation, ISO control, Continuos Shooting, High Dynamic Range mode (HDR).

Front camera LeEco Le 2 is better with the 8-megapixels camera sensor.

There is another big difference in video recording capabilities. LeEco Le 2 supports 4K video recording while Redmi Note 3 lacks this. Yes, few third party apps allow 4K recording in Redmi Note 3, but that is not what normal users will search for.

From camera samples, it is clear that Redmi Note 3 has the longer field of in camera but camera performance is almost similar. Redmi Note 3 offers sharper images but LeEco Le 2 captures more details.

See and decide yourself.

Connectivity

Connectivity options in both phones are similar but LeEco Le 2 comes with USB Type-C. This is a new standard which offers much better usabilities. The company has also ditched the 3.5 mm audio port to use USB Type-C for audio. Before you think much, I want to make it clear that you will get 3.5 mm to USB Type-C connected within the box. So, your older earphones will still work with this phone. But USB Type-C earphones will offer you much better music experience.

Other connectivity features are same. Both phones come with 4G,WI-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity options. Both phones offer good call quality.

Battery

The battery of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is larger as compared to the battery of LeEco Le 2. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is packed with 5050 mAh battery while LeEco Le 2 comes with only 3000 mAh battery. Being true, I was expecting larger battery in Le 2 but company focused on other things. Redmi Note 3 not just offer larger battery but battery performance is also better. And This is the segment where Redmi Note 3 has considerable margin. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 also offers better battery optimization. So, you will be getting the longer battery back up. If you really care about battery life, you must consider this before selecting one from LeEco Le 2 or Xiaomi Redmi Note 3
