Sony to kill Xperia C and M series, focus exclusively on the X series

Earlier this year, at the Mobile World Congress 2016, Sony had revealed the X series of smartphones with three devices to replace the Xperia Z series which was the earlier flagship lineup for the company. Now, according to a report by a Chinese website, the company is all set to pull the plugs on the Xperia M and C series of smartphones.

According to a presentation that was shared by Eprice, the company is supposedly shifting its sole focus to the X series of smartphones. One of the leaked slides shows the manufacturer using the “X” logo for the 2016-2018 “Chapter 3” in its roadmap. The same logo was reportedly being used for the promotional and branding material.

Sony smartphones have lost a lot of market in the present years and after their replacement of the Z series by the X series, their move to remove the C and M series also makes sense as this will give them a chance to focus more on the flagship devices.

As we mentioned earlier, Sony, took to the stage at the Mobile World Congress 2016 and had announced the rebranding of the Xperia series into an ecosystem of connected devices and had at the same time, announced three new devices for the X series of smartphones. The three devices were Sony Xperia X Performance, Xperia X, and the Xperia XA. The three devices were supposed to be available, starting summer 2016.
