Google has also announced few new features for Android Auto at Google I/O 2016. Even if these are minor features, still it improves the platform and makes it better.
Now, Google has added support for wireless connections. Until now, phones need to be plugged in via USB to use Android. Now, you will be able to connect your car over Wi-Fi which is a great move.
Android Auto is also getting support for “OK Google” voice commands. So, you don’t need to touch anything to activate it. Voice commands are now mainstream and provides better way of using a product.
Another notable and interesting thing is that Waze will be coming to Android Auto very soon. Waze is a popular crowdsourced mapping service owned by Google.
Google confirmed that Waze has been its single most-requested feature since the commercial launch of Android Auto. Waze offers rich information like speed trap warnings and speed limit indicators. In few cities, Waze is more popular among taxi drivers.
Waze will be available in Android Auto via a software upgrade which is expected to launch in next few months.
