Newly announced semantic Search Engine Omnity is dreaming to beat and buy Google. Yes it is true. This search engine was made public at CES 2016.
Omnity was announced as a “next-generation semantic search and discovery tool”. It uses advanced semantic and discovering technology to discover hidden interconnection between fields like finance, law, science, engineering, and medicine. In this way, it claims to find better and relevant results users look for. Unlike Google, in this search engine you can also search for a whole document to find related document having similar content.
While Google basically rely on keywords and links to find the relevant results and ranking of results, Omnity users proprietary semantic landscaping technology and intuitive graphical visualizations to find the relevant search results related to the users’ query. This search engine not just targets end users but also big enterprise which spend a lot on search and discovery tools. It will be freely available but for enterprise, there will be a pricing.
“The Omnity product highlights several unusual features. For example, a single person reading and pair-wise interconnecting a 100,000 documents would take nearly 10,000 years. Omnity can perform this function in a fraction of a second, which represents a trillion-fold acceleration,” said Brain Sager, Omnity co-founder.
Sager was discussing about Omnity with Motherboard at CES event when Motherboard reporter asked about possibility to be acquired by Google. He surprised us with his statement.
“We don’t view ourselves as being complementary and not competitive with Google,” he added. “I use Google every day and it’s great, but no, we’re more likely to buy Google.”
