Facebook brings 360-degree videos to iPhone and Samsung’s Gear VR

Good News for iOS users, Facebook is now introducing 360-degree videos for iOS users from today. Now, iOS users can watch 360-degree videos in Facebook. As video is becoming an important part of Facebook, it is trying hard to make it better to compete with YouTube. Few days back Youtube added support to VR for all videos and now Facebook added this feature.

360-degree videos functionality has been already available for android users and web since September. Now, Facebook is adding this functionality for iOS and Samsung’s Gear VR headsets from today onwards.

As 360-degree requires the specialized camera to capture videos, Facebook is making everything easier by partnering with consumer camera manufacturers. Now, it is easier for users to upload their own 360-video from consumer cameras, including Ricoh Theta, Grioptic and IC Real Tech. All these companies have built-in video sharing functionality in their mobile apps.

Facebook is also going to start 360-degree advertising videos in their websites and apps so that people will have more involvement with ads.

With all these, Facebook is also launching a dedicated site for its users who want learn more about uploading videos. This site also gives guidelines, tips and FAQs related to 360-videos.
