I already wrote how I faced frustration by Hathway broadband in past. As a new person in my area, I only had hathway broadband option but after taking connection, they did not even dare to check if they install wrong adapter with modem and I had to complaint almost daily multiple times for around a month to get their attention. So, I also started using alternate solutions like data cards and 3G data with my phone to keep my work running fine. Almost every month, I also kept on asking other broadband service providers to check their availability in my area.
I want to make it clear that I am writing this article after using their service along with my other data card options. It is my personal experience, so do not think if I have any agenda to ruin the reputation of company.
Are they cheating with customers?
Yes, they are. Basically they are cheating with customers in multiple ways. These are the few problems you will face with them:
- No customer support: You will instantly connect to the customer care and receive request complaint number. But that complaint will be closed in few hours without even working on your complaint. As I mentioned in first paragraph, I had to call many days for multiple times to force them to come and check the modem and guess what, modem had issue. That was not the only case,
- Too much fluctuation in speed: If you are lucky, you will see very good internet speed with good downloading and surfing. But this kind of thing is only for few minutes. Most of the time, speed is too much fluctuating. You will surely find no internet access once in every 2-3 hour. Sometimes, you will see proper connection for more than 5 hours. But that is your luck. Do not call for resolving this issue, you will only get request complaint number.
- They Manipulate connections to show speed only on speed test websites: Speedtest.net is the website used to check the speed of your internet. It happened to many almost daily when speed is too low that Facebook or Gmail Chat are not loading, but speedtext.net is showing speed around 4 MPBS. What the hell? You cannot watch YouTube videos properly and speedtest.net shows speed of around 4 MPBS.
- Upload is too low, even 2G data is better for uploading your files: In my experience, I never saw upload speed more than 15 kbps and this is the highest I could say. Usually, I get 7-8 kbps. So, 4 MBPS broadband is offering 7-8 kbps. It makes hard for me to work on codes online. Sometimes, it takes more than 2-3 minutes to upload a 100 KB file.
- Hours of outage once or twice every week: Almost every week, you will find total outage for 4-5 hours once or twice.
- Prepaid service, you will end up paying money in advance: They offer pre-paid service. If after installation you will not find your internet connection working, you will end up paying money without any settlement. There is no refund. You will have to pay for installation, router and one month bill. So, choose wisely.
And trust me, I am not the only one. I checked the reviews on mouthshut.com and found surprising things. Most of the users across the country are facing the same problem. There are few happy customers too, but exceptions are always there.
If you are happy customer for hathway, you are probably one of those who use internet less. Happy customers are those who return home and after taking dinner, they access internet for only 1-2 hours to check social media. If internet is not working, they sleep to start next day refreshing. But if you are using this connection for more usage like online gaming, video streaming and other, you will end up frustrating.

- If you are lucky, you will get speed for few minutes or few hours.
Cons:
- No proper customer support
- No proper internet speed
- Regular outage
My Verdict:
I have Hathway broadband but now I use that only for less important work just to save my 3G data for important work. For important work, I rely on my 3G data cards or sometimes use wi-fi hotspot of my phone. If you not have heavy use, there is no point of using this kind of broadband if you will end up consuming your 3G data.
While Indian government is working to bring a digital revolution in India, most of the Indian people are struggling to get proper Internet speed. Government must revoke the license of these kind of fake companies which are claiming to offer low cost Internet but customers end up wasting their time and money.
Never trust on what they claim on banners or ads, you will get nothing except frustration. They also offer business plan. Try their business plan if you want to ruin your business.
