Take selfie and pay for the item. Yes, it will be true in coming months. Mastercard is working on a payment app which will verify your transactions by selfie. Basically, this app will use face recognition technology to verify you and then proceed to payment. This app cannot be fooled by showing the photo. So, only actual selfie will work. Alternatively, app will also feature fingerprint sensing to verify you.

This app will not send your fingerprint or photos to MasterCard. But, it will convert your fingerprint or photo into a digital code. MasterCard says that this process is secure but transmitted data is vulnerable.

Company is also working on voice recognition and heartbeat recognition technologies for payment verifications. With all these new Biometric methods, MasterCard wants to replace password and make the transaction faster but secure.

There is no more information about the app. So, I cannot confirm when the app will be available for users. Company is testing it to make it fraud proof. Due to increasing cyber-crimes, security of this payment way must be considered.

Mastercard is one of the biggest provider of credit cards and debit cards.
