50 Million Lumia Devices have been Activated till date

At a press event in Germany, Microsoft confirmed that more than 50 million Lumia devices have been activated till date. This number includes all the Windows Phone based smartphone under Lumia series as a part of Nokia’s portfolio since the launch of Lumia series back in 2011.

Microsoft also revelaed that Windows Phone platform has around 560,000 developers and there are 320,000 apps in its Windows Phone Store. The number is up from 300,000 apps reported back in August. And these numbers are also very low as compared to Apple App store and Google Play Store.

If we see from Microsoft’s point of view, 50 million activation seems impressive number. But it is far behind from its competitiors. Apple sold around 40 million smartphones in last fiscal quarter. And if we talk about Android, these are more than 1 billion devices with more than 1.5 million activation per day.

Now Lumia name is the part of Microsoft brand and Microsoft announced its low-end Microsoft Lumia 535 last week. Some key features of the smartphone are 5 inch PS LCD display, quad-core processor, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal storage, 5 megapixel rear camera, front camera and 1950 mAh battery. Now Nokia has again jumped into hardware market with its all new Nokia N1 Android powered tablet.
