“This portal is exclusively dedicated to Indian MSMEs. Our cost is low that is why people will prefer buying from us. We need to spread awareness about this portal,” Union ministor kalraj Mishra told reporters while launching the portal.

For MSMEs, marketing has always been very expensive. They do not have big budgets for spending on advertisements, brand building and sale maintenance. In this portal, they will get a cost effective solution to expand the reach of their business.

Main features of the portal are online registration, web store management, popular products section, online buying, online selling, multi-product card, customer support, payment gateway and other e-commerce features.

For joining this platform, seller will have to pay Rs. 5000 only. Best thing is that the portal does not charge any commission on sales generated. Delivery of products will be handled by sellers.

“There are other portals available in the country, but their (registration) cost is very high, it is prohibitive. We have cut down the cost, the registration fee is Rs 5,000 for one year, irrespective of the number or value of products sold. We don’t charge transaction charges,” NSIC CMD H P Kumar said.

At the time of launch, the portal has 110 suppliers and about 1000 products. In coming days, NSIC will also launch a countrywide publicity campaigns to attract more suppliers and consumers. Company aims to get 3000-3500 sellers on the portal over a period of one year.

It is clearly mentioned in the delivery policy that purchase may not be canceled or revoked by buyer once order has been placed. NSIC will not take any responsibility for any damage or lose. See this statement written in delivery policy: “The buyers or sellers are obligated to absolve NSIC for any conflict or loss to any party arises out of the sale.”

In India, MSME Shopping will compete with rivals like Flipkart and Amazon. Low joining fee and ZERO commission are the only reason which can attract sellers. But from buyers’ point of view. we could’t find anything.
