Snapchat has added two new features: private messaging and video calls. App which rejected a $3 billion offer from Facebook now wants to be the part of people’s regular conversation.
To start a conversation, swipe right on the friend’s name and go to inbox. When you leave the chat screen, messages will be cleared. But you can always save or screenshot conversations for future use. Similarly you can also make calls to your friends just like what you do in Skype. Whenever your friend is in the chat screen and reading the message,, the button at the bottom of the screen will turn blue. You can trigger the video calls when both users have the app open and are in the same conversation
Snapchat has also give app a facelift with new icons and buttons. Entire user interface has been revamped.
“Until today, we felt that Snapchat was missing an important part of conversation: presence. There’s nothing like knowing you have the full attention of your friend while you’re chatting. We could not be more thrilled to announce Chat,” the company writes in a blog post.
Other changes in the app are:
- New text action indictators
- Quick-taps to save certain messages
- Lock screen push notifications
- Single-buzz notifications, even with multiple texts
Updated app is not yet available in App Store or Pay Store.
