In last 2 Hours, many Twitter users received emails from Twitter asking to reset password of their Twitter account for security reasons. Were these accounts compromised? Had Twitter been hacked? Is there anything Wrong?

Twitter Accidentally Sent Password Reset Emails

Yes, there was something wrong but nothing was hacked. Someone at Twitter just hit the wrong button which sent these password reset emails to users. If you are one of those users who received this email, you do not need to worry. You account is still safe.

“We unintentionally sent some password reset notices tonight due to a system error,” the company said in a statement. “We apologize to the affected users for the inconvenience.”

Company did not reveal how many users were affected by this. But ReCode reported that only less than 1% Twitter users received this email.
