Gmail Will Always Display Images in Email

Whenever we receive an email in HTML format, Gmail asks to display images. But, recent changes to Gmail has improved the way Gmail handles images. Now, it will always display images of an email and doesn’t require your permission.

Initially, Gmail hides images to protect users from unknown senders who try to compromise security by using images. After the changes, Gmail will serve images through Google’s own secure proxy servers. So, email will be safer and you will never need to click on “display images below” link again.

These changes will also be available for iOS and Android app.

If you think that Google should ask for your permission before displaying images, you can choose the option “Ask before displaying external images” under the General tab in Settings.

The update is now available for desktop version of Gmail. It will come to mobile apps early 2014.
