Smartphone Owners Prefer websites over Apps to Shop Online

Online shopping is getting popularity in India. So e-Commerce companies are coming up with dedicated applications for smartphone and tablet users. Dedicated apps for smartphone and tablet give better shopping experience on touch devices. But latest study by Nielsen brings some shocking facts bout online shopping on smartphone. According to this new study, people still prefer to shop by website on their smartphone. Very few people use dedicated shopping apps.

The study revealed that only 3 percent of smartphone users use mobile apps to shop online. 25 percent users access shopping websites on mobile web. Report also says that shopping websites are more popular among older people but people aged between 25-35 make more purchase online.

Study also reveals that Flipkart is the most popular online shopping website among users. 5 percent smartphone users use Flipkart while 4 percent users like ebay. Interesting thing is that eBay users use eBay mobile app more than Flipkart users use Flipkart app.

Although, people prefer mobile web over mobile apps, but the mobile apps offer better experience on smartphone. Mobile apps are designed in the way to offer easy and better shopping experience that mobile web. Users will surely like using mobile app but they need to give it a try once. We are not sure why they are afraid of installing mobile apps on their smartphone.
