Lava to Launch FireFox OS based Smartphone Under Rs. 3000

Lava is ready to hit Indian smartphone market with its low cost Firefox OS based smartphone. Expected price of the smartphone will be Rs. 3000 or less.

Lava International Chairman and MD, Hari Om Rai confirmed that company is working to launch Firefox based smartphone in India. This smartphone will be lower in price and fight with low cost Android smartphones. Lava is trying to keep the cost of these smartphones below Rs. 3000. But he didn’t confirmed the expected official announcement of the smartphone.

Rai Told to reporters that Samsung and Nokia were the major player in smartphone and low cost phone market. But they are not working well for low cost phones and are leaving competition. Lava intends to take the opportunity and grow in that market. Company is also confident to play in the market and get success.

Lava International offers low cost Android smartphones and tablets in country. Recently it has launched Lava Iris 504Q smartphone with gesture control feature.

ZTE and Alcatel are already working on Firefox based smartphones. Mozilla announced Firefox OS for mobile devices back in July 2012. Company had already launched two Firefox OS based devices for developer preview.

We are not sure when Firefox OS based smartphones will be in Indian market. But we can expect it in 2014.
