Google Ships Google Glass with Android OS. But Google Engineers have shown how to root Google Glass and install Ubuntu in it. In Google I/O developer conference, Session “Void Your Warranty” has revealed some interesting things.

The process is really simple. You can unlock the bootloader with a fastboot command and then a new boot image will provide you the root access. The steps of hacking into Glass are simple. These steps invloves pushing some APKs to device and then pairing glass with Bluetooth Keyboard and trackpad. To run the Ubuntu on the Glass you need Android Terminal Emulator and Complete Linux Installer. You’re then able to use SSH or VNC to access Ubuntu running right on Glass. You can see the attached screenshot running Ubuntu on Google Glass.

But, you should not follow the process if you are not an expert. You can end up bricking your Google Glass and thus voiding the warranty.
