Google Drive App For Android Updated with New Design, Document Scanner and Improved Spreadsheet Editing

Google has updated the Google Drive App for Android. This is a major app update that brings design changes, few new features and other improvements in older features.

Now it has cleaner and simpler interface that looks similar to Google Now-like card-style look. It makes file searching easier. Users will also be able to download the copy of a file on their device. It also makes it easier to see preview of file within the app and view properties of files as well.

Most notable feature added this update is document scanner. Now you can scan any documents and store it in the Drive in PDF format. You can also easily search the scanned document by the content. App comes with advanced OCR technology that can easily search within the content of scanned document.

Spreadsheet editing is also improved with new options. Now, you can change fonts, colors and cell alignment in the editors. Few older bugs have also been fixed in the update.

  • New grid view makes it easier to find your files
  • New quick preview lets you view photos and other files from within the app
  • Scan documents, receipts and letters for safe keeping in Drive; then search by contents once uploaded
  • Download a copy of files to your local device (Honeycomb+)
  • Spreadsheet editor now supports changing fonts, colors and cell alignment
  • View properties of files from within the editors
  • Bug fixes and visual improvements

Updated Google Drive for Android is now available to download via Google Play Store for free.
