Google Now Owns yt.be Short URL for YouTube

Every company try to own all short URLs that match to their brand. Few months back Twitter bought t.co URL to use as URL shortener. Now Google has bought yt.be Short URL to short URL of YouTube videos. This time, yt.be is redirecting users to goo.gl URL shortening service.

The next web  researched on the domain and found few proofs that show the owner of the domain is Google. You can see the snap which shows that Google paid for the domain. But the amount Google paid is unclear.

Google owns many short URLs that it use in different services. Google’s goo.gl is most popular URL shortener available for users. For YouTube, Google already owns youtu.be but it wants to short the URL more. So, it bought yt.be.

Every minute, more than 700 YouTube videos are shared on Twitter with Youtu.be URL shortener. It is more than 1 million a day. With this new short URL yt.be, Google is going to save 3 characters. And we know the importance of character space on Twitter.
