Sony Xperia Tipo is the lowest cost Android smartphone from Sony. It runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and powered by 800 MHz processor.

Design and Screen

Xperia Tipo has the dimension’s 103 mm, 57 mm and 13 mm in height, width and depth. It is a light weight smartphone with 99.4 gm weight. It  features a rectangular look with sleek rounded edges.

It features a 3.2 inches scratch-resistant TFT touch screen with 320 x 480 pixels screen HVGA resolution.

Processor and Operating System

Xperia Tipo is powered by a 800 MHz Qualcomm Scorpion processor. Graphics of the smartphone is enhanced by Adreno 200 graphics processing unit which provides a higher degree of display quality. As I already mentioned that the cost of the smartphone is low, we can not expect more than this power.

It comes with Android 4.4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich onboard. Processor and RAM is low, so we can not expect Jelly Bean upgrade for this smartphone.

When we tested the processing power of the smartphone, the mobile functioned smoother and easier. Sometimes it delays in multitasking and swapping applications but everything was fine.

RAM and Storage

It features 512 MB RAM that is enough for most of the apps and tasks. Xperia Tipo features 2.5 GB internal storage and comes with a microSD expansion card. So we can expand internal storage up to 32 GB.

Camera

Xperia Tip comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera with LED flash and autofocus. Camera also features Geo-tagging, image stabilization, smile and face detection and touch focus. Camera of Xperia Tip also features 4X zoom and 3D sweep panorama. Outdoor photos captured with this smartphone was clear and good. But indoor photos were dull but clear. overall performance of the camera is good.

Connectivity Features

This smartphone comes with all popular connectivity options. It comes with GPRS and EDGE technology that allow users to connect to 2G network. It also features 3G and WiFi connectivity. It also features wifi hotspot, Bluetooth and USB port.

Battery

The phone is powered by a 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery that  promises to give talktime of 5 hours when used on the 2G network. Device promises the user a talktime of up to 4 hours, when it used in 3G network.  The overall battery performance when tested was great with average daily use. But 3G browsing consume battery fast.

Other features of the smartphones are music player, video player and an FM radio. . The list of pre-loaded application include: Google Voice Search, Google Talk video chat, Google Mail, Google Calendar, and Google Maps with Street View.

What is Good?

The design is good and it’s handy too. Xperia Tipo is Sony’s lowest cost smartphone that comes with Android 4.0 ICS version, 512 MB RAM and 800 MHz Processor supporting it.

What is bad?

The Camera of the smartphone is not satisfactory. Multitasking/swapping applications is also slower.
