Screen, dimension and Network

Samsung galaxy Ace features a 3.5 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen display with 320 x 480 pixels resolution. Its screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. Screen size is more than enough for a phone at this price.

Its dimensions are 112.4 x 59.9 x 11.5 mm and it weighs only113 g.
It runs on GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 2G network bands and HSDPA 900 / 2100 3G Network bands. It also supports only Mini Sim card.

At right side of the phone, it has a power button and a microSD card slot. Other side, it has volume up down keys.

Processor and Operating system

Samsung Galaxy Ace is powered by a 800 MHz ARM 11 processor and comes with Adreno 200 GPU. That is powerful enough to run most of the apps and games available.
It comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and there will be no upgrade for ICS. But Gingerbread is also nice for this kind of smartphone.

Camera

It comes with a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash. Camera also features Geo-tagging, face and smile detection. It can capture images at 2592×1944 pixels resolution and VGA videos @24fps. It lacks secondary camera so no video calling.

Memory

It feature 278 MB RAM that is too low. For a smartphone, 512 MB RAM must be there. Because ,many apps create problems in low memory android phones. It also features 158 MB storage which is expandable up to 32 GB via microSD card.

Connectivity features

Samsung Galaxy Ace comes with all latest connectivity options which includes GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP and microUSB v2.0

Battery

The Samsung 3G phone is powered by a 1350 mAh battery that lasts for 11 hours on 2G and 6.5 hours on 3G networks. It also gives standby time upto 640 hours on 2G and up to 420 hours in 3G network.

Other Features

Other features of the smartphone includes Stereo FM radio with RDS, GPS, Java via Java MIDP emulator and HTMl browser. It supports multiple multimedia audio and video formats and comes with many pre-installed apps. It also has one touch access to popular social networking and instant messenger apps. Galaxy Ace is preloaded with business suite tools like Thinkfree Document viewer, Voice memo and voice mail.

Disadvantages of the phone

  • No shutter key for the camera
  • It does not support Adobe Flash in the web browser
  • No ambient light sensor
