Microsoft has finally announced that its next generation operating system Windows 8 will be available on October 26. This new operating system aims to shift users from personal computers to tablets and smartphones.
Windows 8 will be available in 109 languages across 231 markets around the world.
According to Microsoft Chief Steve Ballmer, this new operating system is the biggest deal for the company in last 17 years since Microsoft had launched Windows 8.
This new Windows 8 runs on Metro interface which is borrowed from Windows Phone Platform. Microsoft has also redesigned many things and removed start menu. Now it has a customisable homesecreen.
Company also revealed some reports of its older operating system Windows 7 that was launched on October 2009. Company said that they have sold more tha 630 million copies of Windows 7 till date.
“We believe that your upgrade experience in Windows 8 will be a breeze by offering a faster experience, a single upgrade path, and compatibility from prior versions of Windows,” said Microsoft’s Brandon LeBlanc. “We’ve continued to listen to our customers and have expanded the ability to download to over 100 countries and 37 languages.
Windows 8 operating system aims both desktops and smartphones. It is well optimized for touchscreen devices. Few days back, company has also revealed its own surface tablets which will run on windows 8 mobile operating system.
Most important feature of Windows 8 is its synchronization with cloud service, Skydrive. So users will be able to sync their desktop with cloud around the world. FOr using this feature, they will have to use their msn account in windows. This new operating system will also support wide range of devices including touch and stylus-based smartphones and tablet PCs as well as desktop and laptop machines.
Windows 8 aims to hit desktop and smartphone market. Windows is ruling on desktops but smartphone and tablet market is dominated by Apple and Google. So company want to give some impressive features to get some market share in smartphone and tablet
