India Ministry Selects Microsft to deploy Cloud to 7.5 million people

India Ministry Selects Microsft to deploy Cloud to 7.5 million peopleAll India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) branch of India’s Ministry of Human Resources and Development has selected Microsoft’s Live@edu to spread cloud service up to 7.5 million people. This includes more than 10,000 technical colleges and institutes in the country.

This is the biggest cloud deployment that Microsoft has ever done. But most of the part of the service are for free so it will not earn a good revenue for the company.

“AICTE selected Live@Edu based on a critical need for a world-class cloud productivity solution for their students that could grow and evolve with ever-changing student needs. The decision means that more than 7.5 million students, educators and staff will soon have access to free, cloud-hosted communications and collaboration services. The impact to students’ improved quality of education extends beyond collegiate success by enabling a smooth transition for students from college to workforce. Live@Edu is the leading communications and collaboration suite in the cloud for education, with more than 22 million people using the service worldwide,” Anthony Salcito, Vice President, Worldwide Education, Microsoft wrote in a post.

After this deloyment, students, faculty and staff of all the colleges involve in ths will have opportunity to communicate from anywhere at any time, through providing them with a seamless collaboration experience.

Additionally, the move will result in more than just better quality of education, as it will also enable smooth transition for students from college to workforce.
