Ubuntu 10.10 reaches End of Life

On the International Women’s day, Kate Stewart announced that the Ubuntu 10.10 will reach to its EOL (End of Life) on April 10, 2012. Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) was released on October 10, 2012 with new GNOME 2.32, Linux kernel 2.6.35.3,  a totally revamped installer, Nouveau video driver, the Ubuntu font, Ubuntu One for Android and iPhone, OneConf, revamped Ubuntu Software Center, and much more.

“Ubuntu announced its 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) release almost 18 months ago, on October 10, 2010 at 10:10:10 UTC.  As with the earlier releases,Ubuntu committed to ongoing security and critical fixes for a period  of 18 months. The support period is now nearing its end and Ubuntu 10.10 will reach end of life on Tuesday, April 10, 2012.  At that time, Ubuntu Security Notices will no longer include information or updated packages for Ubuntu 10.10,” said Kate Stewart in the announcement.
“The supported upgrade path from Ubuntu 10.10 is via Ubuntu 11.04. Instructions and caveats for the upgrade may be found at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/NattyUpgrades.” he added.
After the April 10, 2012 no support will be given to Ubunt 10.10 oprating system. Users running Ubuntu 10.10 are adviced to upgarade their operating system as soon as they can before the EOL date.
